George Acquaah

Dr. George Acquaah is Dean of Arts and Sciences at Bowie State University, the liaison to the Alliance, and a co-PI of this project. He received his B.Sc. in Agriculture Science and M.Sc. in Crop Science from the University of Ghana, Legon, and his Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Michigan State University.

Before joining Bowie in 2008, he served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Langston University, and briefly as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2008. His research interests are in tissue culture applications and plant genomics for the improvement of tall wheatgrass, cassava, and peanut. He was recognized by the White House Initiative on HBCUs with the 2003 Millennium Award for Excellence in Teaching.
