Dr. Valbona Bejleri joined the University of the District of Columbia in 2005 after she earned the MA degree in Mathematics (2000) and PhD in Statistics (2005), both from American University. She is the program director for UDC’s new Applied Statistics M.S. program, and the person who will lead its transformation into a PSM program.
Recently she had training in applied biostatistics, and translational research. Her research focuses on methodology for predictive and Bayesian inference and model uncertainty. She was honored as a graduate student of the year (2004) from Washington Statistical Society and her research was honored with a dissertation fellowship (2004-2005). Currently she collaborates with statisticians from other universities around the region and country.
She has served as a principal or co-principal investigator in grants funded by different agencies (including NIH). She has developed and implemented a senior/graduate course on statistical data analysis using SAS software. She is a member of leading statistical and mathematical professional societies such as the Institute for Mathematical Statistics, American Statistical Association, and Mathematics Association of America.
