Founded in 1891 pursuant to the second Morrill Act, Delaware State University is a comprehensive university located in Dover. The University’s 3,700 students come from more than 35 states and 30 countries. About 10% of the students are pursuing graduate degrees.
DSU offers over 80 degree programs, including about a dozen STEM master’s degrees, and four STEM PhD programs: in Neuroscience, Applied Chemistry, Optics, and Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics.
The rapidly growing research portfolio is sponsored by NSF, DOD, NASA, NIH, DOE, and others. There are long-standing research programs in cancer, microbiology, neuroscience, agriculture, fisheries, and natural resources; an NSF CREST in Optical Sciences; the DOE/DOT Center for Hydrogen Storage Research; an NSF-funded neuroscience dual-degree program; the DOD-funded Applied Mathematics Research Center; strong initiatives in biotechnology; and major roles in Delaware’s INBRE (NIH) and EPSCoR RII (NSF) programs. The business program is accredited by the AACSB.
